The apron conveyor is a continuous conveying equipment widely used in industries such as mining, metallurgy, chemical engineering, and building materials. It is mainly used for conveying lumpy, granular, or powdery materials. Its installation process is complex and requires strict operation in accordance with specifications to ensure the safe operation and long-term stability of the equipment. The detailed installation steps of the apron conveyor are as follows:

1

I. Pre-Installation Preparation

1. Technical Preparation

Drawing Review: Before installation, carefully read the design drawings, installation instructions, and relevant technical documents of the apron conveyor to understand the equipment’s structure, dimensions, and installation requirements.

Installation Plan Formulation: Develop a detailed installation plan based on on-site actual conditions, including equipment layout, installation sequence, personnel division of labor, and safety measures.

Technical Disclosure: Conduct technical disclosure to the technicians and workers involved in the installation to ensure everyone understands the installation requirements and precautions.

2. Material Preparation

Equipment Inspection: Before installation, check whether all components of the apron conveyor are complete and free from damage or defects, especially key components such as chains, aprons, and drive units.

Tool Preparation: Prepare tools and equipment required for installation, such as hoisting equipment, welding equipment, measuring tools, and fasteners.

Foundation Acceptance: Inspect whether the conveyor foundation meets the design requirements, including the flatness, dimensions of the foundation, and the position of embedded parts.

3. Safety Preparation

Safety Protection Measures: Formulate and implement safety protection measures, such as setting up safety warning signs and equipping safety protection equipment (e.g., safety helmets, safety belts).

Emergency Plan: Develop an emergency plan to ensure timely handling of unexpected situations during the installation process.

II. Foundation Installation

1. Foundation Layout

Based on the design drawings, use measuring tools to mark key position lines (such as the center line and elevation line of the conveyor) on the foundation to ensure the accurate installation position of the conveyor.

2. Anchor Bolt Installation

Install the anchor bolts on the foundation in accordance with design requirements, ensuring the position, elevation, and verticality of the bolts meet specifications. The anchor bolts should be fixed firmly to prevent loosening during installation.

3. Base Installation

Place the conveyor base on the foundation, adjust the position and levelness of the base to ensure tight fit between the base and the foundation. The levelness error of the base should be controlled within the allowable range.

III. Installation of Drive Unit and Tail Unit

1. Drive Unit Installation

Install the drive unit (including motor, reducer, coupling, etc.) on the base, adjust the position of the drive unit to ensure it is aligned with the conveyor’s center line. The drive unit should be installed firmly to avoid vibration during operation.

2. Tail Unit Installation

Install the tail unit (including tail sprocket, tensioning device, etc.) at the other end of the conveyor, adjust the position and levelness of the tail unit to ensure it is aligned with the drive unit.

IV. Installation of Chains and Aprons

1. Chain Installation

Install the chains on the drive sprocket and tail sprocket in accordance with design requirements, ensuring the chain tension is moderate. Avoid twisting or misalignment during chain installation to ensure smooth operation.

2. Apron Installation

Install the aprons on the chains as per design specifications, ensuring uniform gaps between aprons and firm connection between aprons and chains. Prevent misalignment or loosening of aprons to ensure stable operation.

V. Installation of Intermediate Supports and Idlers

1. Intermediate Support Installation

Install the intermediate supports at the middle position of the conveyor according to design requirements, adjust the position and levelness of the supports to ensure alignment with the conveyor’s center line. The intermediate supports should be installed firmly to avoid vibration during operation.

2. Idler Installation

Install the idlers on the intermediate supports, adjust the position and levelness of the idlers to ensure alignment with the conveyor’s center line. The idlers should be installed firmly to prevent vibration during operation.

VI. Installation of Electrical Control System

1. Electrical Equipment Installation

Install electrical equipment (such as electrical control cabinets, sensors, and cables) at appropriate positions on the conveyor in accordance with design requirements. Ensure the electrical equipment is installed firmly and the cables are laid neatly.

2. Electrical Wiring

Conduct electrical wiring according to the electrical schematic diagram, ensuring correct and firm wiring to avoid faults such as short circuits or open circuits. After wiring, inspect and test the electrical system to ensure its normal operation.

VII. Commissioning and Trial Operation

1. Equipment Inspection

Before commissioning, inspect all components of the conveyor to ensure correct and firm installation without loosening or damage.

2. No-Load Trial Operation

Start the conveyor for no-load trial operation, and check the operation status of the conveyor, including whether the chains and aprons run smoothly, whether the drive unit and tail unit operate normally, and whether the electrical control system is reliable.

3. Load Trial Operation

After the no-load trial operation is normal, conduct a load trial operation to check the conveyor’s performance under load conditions and ensure it meets the design requirements.

VIII. Acceptance and Handover

1. Acceptance Inspection

After the trial operation is normal, conduct an acceptance inspection to ensure all performance indicators of the conveyor meet the design requirements and the installation quality is qualified.

2. Handover for Use

After passing the acceptance inspection, hand over the conveyor for use and provide relevant technical materials and operation and maintenance manuals to ensure users can operate and maintain the equipment correctly.

The installation of an apron conveyor is a complex and meticulous process involving multiple links and steps. Each step must be carried out in strict accordance with design requirements and specifications to ensure the installation quality and service performance of the equipment. Through reasonable installation and commissioning, the apron conveyor can operate stably and provide reliable material conveying support for production.
