The conveying distance of an en-masse chain conveyor is not a fixed value; it is affected by multiple factors such as machine type, material characteristics, and installation method (horizontal, inclined, vertical), and usually falls within a relatively wide range:
1. Horizontal Conveying
Under normal circumstances, the horizontal conveying distance is generally between 10 meters and 40 meters. However, some large-scale customized models can reach 50 meters or even longer, provided that the material has good fluidity and the power is properly matched. Nevertheless, as the distance increases, it is necessary to consider the tension of the scraper chain, the power of the drive unit, and the operational stability of the equipment. Excessively long distances may require a segmented design.
2. Vertical Conveying
The vertical lifting distance is relatively short, usually ranging from 4 meters to 20 meters. This is because during vertical conveying, the gravity of the material itself increases the load on the scraper chain. Excessively long distances will lead to a sharp surge in power demand, and problems such as material blockage and accelerated chain wear are likely to occur. Specially designed models (e.g., those for lightweight materials) may have a slightly longer lifting distance, but it generally does not exceed 30 meters.
3. Inclined Conveying
The larger the inclination angle, the more restricted the conveying distance. When the inclination angle is less than 15°, the conveying distance is close to that of horizontal conveying; when the angle increases (e.g., 30°-45°), the distance shortens significantly, usually between 10 meters and 25 meters. The specific distance needs to be adjusted according to parameters such as the material’s angle of repose and internal friction.
It should be noted that for conveying requirements exceeding the conventional distance, it is usually necessary to use multiple devices in series or segmented drive to ensure operational stability and safety. In practical applications, professional technicians must conduct model selection and design based on specific materials (e.g., bulk density, particle size) and working conditions (temperature, humidity).
